Argentinean Round kicks off, the first intercontinental round of the 2022 WorldSBK season

Francesco Bagnaia will have his first match point for the World Title at the Sepang International Circuit, a Malaysian track located not far from Kuala Lumpur, which this weekend will host the Malaysian GP, the penultimate round of the 2022 MotoGP season.

Francesco Bagnaia will have his first match point for the World Title at the Sepang International Circuit, a Malaysian track located not far from Kuala Lumpur, which this weekend will host the Malaysian GP, the penultimate round of the 2022 MotoGP season.

The Italian rider of the Ducati Lenovo Team took the lead in the overall standings last Sunday at Phillip Island in Australia, closing a gap that, after the German GP at Sachsenring, was of 91 points against Quartararo. Thanks to his third place in Phillip Island, Bagnaia is now in first place with a 14-point lead over the Frenchman and 27 points over Aleix Espargaro. Therefore, the race in Sepang, which returns to host MotoGP after a three-year absence due to the pandemic, will be crucial for the Italian rider. The Malaysian track has seen Ducati triumph on six occasions so far, while the Borgo Panigale manufacturer has scored nine podiums at Sepang. The most recent was Andrea Dovizioso's third place in 2019.

The Malaysian GP will also be important for Jack Miller from a Championship perspective. In fact, the Australian rider that arrives at Sepang after an unfortunate home Grand Prix at Phillip Island can still aim for third place in the overall standings.

Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 1st (233 points)
“I am happy to be back racing in Malaysia. Compared to Phillip Island, where we were last week, the temperatures here will be much higher, and with this tropical weather, it is also difficult to predict whether the race will be dry or wet. In any case, I'm calm: in Australia, where we struggled more than at other tracks, we fought for the victory, while Sepang is on paper a slightly “friendlier” track, so there are all the conditions to be able to do well. Now we are first in the Championship, and we have to stay focused more than ever. The approach, however, does not change: we have to think about doing our job well, as always, to try to get ready for Sunday's race.”

Jack Miller (#43 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 5th (179 points)
“After last Sunday's race in Australia, unfortunately, I can no longer aim for the title, but I am still in the fight for third place in the standings, as Espargaro and Bastianini also failed to capitalize in Phillip Island. So the goal this weekend will be to try to recover as many points as possible and get back into the fight for the top positions. Last Sunday, we really had the potential to do well, as it had happened in the last GPs of this second part of the season, but unfortunately, I was knocked out of the race and it wasn’t my fault.  I feel comfortable riding the Desmosedici GP and the sensations continue to be positive, so I am confident that I can do well here in Sepang, where I have been fast in the past. My goal is to finish the last two races I have left with the Ducati Lenovo Team in the best possible way.”

The Malaysian GP will officially kick off on Friday, 21st October at 10:50am local time (4:50am in Italy) with the first free practice session, while the race will be held on Sunday, 23rd October at 3pm Malaysian time (9am in Italy) over a 20-lap distance.

Tommy Bridewell finishes the 2022 British Superbike Championship in third.

It was the final round of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch this weekend. Tommy Bridewell and the Oxford Products Ducati Racing had a strong end to the season with a fourth, fifth and fourth in the three races. Tommy also secured a fantastic third place in the overall Championship standings, marking another successful season with the Oxford Products Racing Ducati team.

The weather was mixed again this weekend so track time was limited, Friday was half wet half dry, and just not worth going out there too much and risking doing damage during practice.

Tommy got through to the Superbikes qualifying two session and qualified for the opening race on the front row, in third. Come the race he had a steady start and had to make some progress through the pack, the leaders had made a break at this point and Tommy had to settle for fourth.

For race two he started from second place on the grid, but disaster struck just before the warm-up lap and a small technical problem saw him being wheeled off the grid. The team quickly found the issue and Tommy was forced to start from pit-lane, re-joining the pack many seconds off the last man. He got his head down and focussed on the job in hand, picking off rider after rider, lap after lap. His determination got him through to fifth place by the end of the race, a great achievement.

For the final race of the year, he was placed in fifth position, another steady start saw the leaders make a break. Tommy was fighting hard with Peter Hickman on the closing laps, and he gained another fourth place and third in the Championship standings.

This was the last race for Tommy and the Oxford Products Racing Ducati team after a great four and a half years together. The team would like to wish Tommy all the best for his future and thank him for his time with them. Also, a huge thank you to Oxford Products and all our other loyal sponsors. The team are looking forward to a strong 2023 with new riders.

Tommy Bridewell (Oxford Products Racing Ducati #46)
2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship – 3rd
“It was another strong weekend; it was good to end the season with three good solid race results. I was gutted not to get any race wins, but we did have good strong race pace. My highlight was starting from pit lane and managing to get up to fifth place!

It was nice to end the season on some strong results. As most are aware it was my last race with the team, I’d like to wish the team every success in their future and a huge thank you for everything they have done for me.”

“It was another great way to end the season, the team have performed so well this year with a great performance in the last three races at Brands Hatch. The team can’t thank Tommy enough for the last four and half years, it’s been a lot of fun and podium pudding!

For 2023 we have the exciting news starting our Supersport challenge, alongside a strong Superbike rider.”

Mad for Fun: Ducati expands the Monster range with the SP version, even sportier and more fun

  • The “SP” represents the top of the range Ducati Monster and is designed to enhance the fun in sporty riding and the style of the bike, thanks to the MotoGP-inspired livery
  • Benchmark components for those who love sporty riding: Öhlins suspension, Brembo Stylema® front calipers, Termignoni approved silencer, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, steering damper and lithium-ion battery
  • More efficacy and safety: electronics recalibrated from a sporting point of view and introduction of the new Riding Mode Wet

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 15 September 2022 – In the second episode of the Ducati World Première web series 2023, Ducati presented the new Monster SP: a version designed to enhance the fun, thanks to a perfect package of technical equipment for those who love sporty riding (link to see the episode here).

Presented in 2021, the Monster represents all the essence of Ducati in the most compact, essential and lightest form possible. The recipe is the original 1993 one: a sporty engine, but perfect for road use, combined with a Superbike-derived frame. Everything you need to have fun, every day. The heart of the Monster is the Testastretta 11° engine , a liquid-cooled 4-valve twin with 111 hp and desmodromic distribution. Its Front Frame, inspired by that of the Panigale V4, is an extremely light and compact aluminium frame fixed directly to the engine heads. It is the modern reinterpretation of the recipe that gave life to the Naked segment of motorcycles, which is now making new generations of Monsteristi fall in love with it.

A concept as simple as it is effective, which takes a further step forward with the arrival of the Monster SP. This model is characterized by a series of high-quality components that make the bike even lighter, more effective and fun in sporty riding, as well as more aggressive from an aesthetic point of view.

The sporty nature of the Monster SP can be seen immediately thanks to the livery that incorporates the 2022 colours of the Ducati Lenovo Team's Desmosedici GP, the golden anodizing of the Öhlins NIX30 fork and the presence of a Termignoni approved silencer as standard. Particularly high-quality details are the red saddle, which is integrated with the tail in the side view, the Monster SP logo on the passenger seat cover and the Ducati logo on the fuel tank, larger and inspired by the Panigale V4 graphics.

Monster SP gives the possibility to enjoy greater efficiency in sporty riding. This version has better braking performance, reduced load transfers, an increased ability to close trajectories and greater precision in all riding phases.

The fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, with the fork 0.6 kg lighter than the one used on the Monster and Monster +, increase the feeling, as well as the ground clearance and consequently the lean angle. The suspension system can also count upon a sportier calibration, which improves the dynamic qualities of the Monster SP when riding on mixed roads and opens the possibility of having fun even among the curbs of a circuit.

Also in this direction, the upgrading of the braking system with Brembo Stylema® calipers and aluminium flanges for the 320 mm front brake discs (0.5 kg lighter than the Monster equipment) makes the Monster SP more performing when braking, but, at the same time, more agile thanks to the reduction of inertia at the front.
The general lightening of the bike also comes with the adoption of a lithium-ion battery, which brings the overall weight saving to about 2 kg in running order compared to the standard model (already a benchmark in the category for lightness), despite the addition of components such as the steering damper and the windshield.

The sporting potential of the Monster SP is further enhanced by the steering damper, which improves stability under acceleration and cornering, as well as by the presence as original equipment of Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, the manufacturer's flagship proposal for sporty riding on the road. In addition, the electronics see a general recalibration of all the Riding Modes, and therefore of all the electronic controls, to make the most of the changes made to the chassis, and the arrival of the new Riding Mode Wet, designed to offer greater safety on the bikes on wet surfaces.

The electronic sector of the Monster is at the top of the segment. The standard equipment includes ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control, all adjustable to various levels of intervention. The sporty character of the new Monster SP is also underlined by the Launch Control which ensures lightning-fast starts. This top-of-the-range motorcycle equipment allows the Monster SP to safely express its full performance.

The Sport, Touring and Wet Riding Modes allow you to shape the Monster's character according to tastes and needs. Everything is easily managed through the handlebar controls and the 4.3” colour TFT dashboard, featuring racing graphics that echo those of the Panigale V4, with a large rev counter and a complete set of information on the left, including that of the gear engaged.

The Ducati Monster SP will arrive in dealerships starting from January 2023, also in a depowered version for riding with an A2 license*.

On Ducati’s YouTube channel is also available the dynamic video of the bike.

Ducati Panigale V4 2023: electronic updates improve performance and comfort

  • Ducati continues the annual update of the supersport bike par excellence of its range, exactly the same as with the Ducati Corse prototypes: the bike is already available in dealerships
  • The new Engine Brake Control EVO 2 software, a brand-new strategy for Ducati Quick Shift and refinements for Ducati Traction Control and Ride by Wire make the Panigale V4 even easier and more intuitive for riders of all levels
  • A new cooling fan control strategy offers improved operating temperature management and better thermal comfort
  • The Panigale family will be protagonist at World Ducati Week 2022 with 21 Ducati riders competing in the “Lenovo Race of Champions” aboard the Panigale V4 and Panigale V2

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 11 July 2022 – Ducati Panigale V4 continues its evolution for Model Year 2023 with the introduction of a series of electronic improvements that make the bike even easier and more intuitive for riders of all levels.

The Panigale family is the maximum expression of the continuous exchange of information and technologies from the world of racing to production motorcycles and with the 2023 version of the Panigale V4 continues on its annual improvement path, exactly the same as with the Ducati Corse prototypes.
The Panigale V4 project fully represents the uniqueness of a brand that works to ensure that everything designed for racing can then be transferred to motorcycles intended for enthusiasts.

With the 2022 model, the Panigale V4 has made the most significant evolution since the year of its launch with improvements that affects every aspect of the bike: aerodynamics, ergonomics, engine, chassis and electronics
On the 2023 versions of the Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S and Panigale V4 SP2, the step forward takes the form of the adoption of an updated electronic package, capable of further increasing the riding feeling and performances on the racetrack.

To improve stability, precision and directionality during braking and cornering, and to allow the rider to define with greater precision the best electronic set-up on each circuit, the Panigale V4 2023 receives the new Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO 2 software, which features a different gear-by-gear calibration on each of the three selectable levels. The new strategy has been developed to optimize engine brake intensity according to the load on the rear wheel. In the first stage of braking, when there is little load on the rear tyre, the EBC EVO 2 provides less engine brake, which increases as you approach the centre of the curve: the moment in which the intervention of the engine brake contributes the most to slowing down the bike and tightening the line. Thanks to this strategy, which ensures a more balanced intervention of engine brake control in any riding phase, the system reduces rear wheel lockup in the most demanding braking situations, thus improving stability and precision in the cornering phase.

The Panigale V4 2023 also receives a new strategy for the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), improving gearshift fluidity at every degree of throttle opening, both partial and full, handling the two different situations differently.
When shifting at partial gas, where the system previously cut the injection, now the effect is pursued by retarding the ignition timing, thus smoothing out the shifting in road use thanks to the absence of any engine cut-off. When shifting with a completely open throttle, a situation typical of the racetrack, the strategy continues to employ an injection cut, but the torque restitution phase has been refined, guaranteeing more stability to the bike and a more homogeneous and therefore more efficient thrust, benefitting lap time.

In addition to these changes there is a new strategy for the cooling fan, capable of offering better management of operating temperatures and greater thermal comfort for the rider already at speeds typical of road use. This latest update also reduces the typical heat build-up at the end of track sessions.

The updates for 2023 are complemented by a refinement of the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ride by Wire strategies. The former has evolved to make the action of traction control even more accurate as a function of lean angle, while the latter improves the connection between the torque requested by the rider and the torque actually delivered. These improvements follow the Ducati philosophy of constant product development, ensuring regular evolution to always offer the best level of performance, usability and comfort.

These updates, available on all Panigale V4, V4 S and V4 SP2 2023 models, will also be available to all owners of Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S and Panigale V4 SP2 2022 by means of a simple intervention that can be performed at a Ducati Service starting from the end of July 2022.

The Panigale V4 is a bike that performs just as well in the hands of professionals as it is rewarding for amateurs and is frequently used by Ducati Corse riders during their training sessions. It is no coincidence that this bike will be the protagonist together with the Panigale V2 of the “Lenovo Race of Champions”, which will be held on Saturday 23 July as part of the World Ducati Week 2022 and will see 21 Ducati riders from the MotoGP and Superbike championships compete at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The Streetfighter V2 range is expanded with a new colour scheme

  • Ducati Streetfighter V2 range expands with the introduction of a new matt metallic green colour that enhances the design of the bike
  • Streetfighter V2 is a sports naked with a unique character, aimed at motorcyclists who are looking for a bike capable of combining the sporting DNA of the Panigale V2 with the riding attitude and style of the Streetfighter
  • The Storm Green colour scheme, available in dealerships from July 2022, joins the Ducati Red version

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 13 June 2022 – Ducati expands the Streetfighter V2 range with the introduction of the new Storm Green colour scheme which will be available in dealerships from July 2022.

The metallic green chosen by the Centro Stile Ducati enhances the clean, sharp and essential lines of the Streetfighter V2, reinforcing the unique character of the bike and its innate ability to attract attention. The matt finish is perfectly combined with the chromatic context of the mechanical parts, while the metallic grain creates a very evident play of contrasts on the different surfaces.

Streetfighter V2 is aimed at those riders who are looking for a bike capable of combining the sporting DNA of the Panigale V2 with the riding attitude and style of the Streetfighter . An intuitive and easy-to-handle model, with the right power to guarantee adrenaline-pumping performance and maximum riding fun, combined with a high-level electronic package that allows to enjoy the bike in safety.

The Streetfighter V2 is essential and characterized by a truly sharp design, which embraces the classic stylistic elements of the Streetfighter V4, starting with the distinctive headlight, which recalls the V-shaped DRL typical of Ducati sports bikes and is inspired by the famous grin of the Joker.

Ergonomics has major rider-centric features and is focused on road use with the added values of sportiness and comfort. The high and wide aluminium handlebars replace the handlebar risers of the Panigale V2. The saddle now is wider and has new padding that contributes to make this bike even more comfortable. In addition, the footpegs have been repositioned to increase the amount of room. All these improvements allow the biker great control in sporty riding and facilitate everyday use at the same time.

The engine of the Streetfighter V2 is the 955 cc Euro 5-compliant Superquadro, capable of delivering a maximum power of 153 hp at 10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 101.4 Nm at 9,000 rpm. This engine is very elastic and proves to be not only usable and enjoyable on the road but also effective and excellent on the track, where it can be easily managed. Compared to the Panigale V2, the Streetfighter V2 has a shorter final ratio (15/45 vs 15/43) which guarantees greater torque to the wheel at road speeds while giving better engine responsiveness when re-opening the throttle.

While developing this new model, Ducati engineers focused their attention on the chassis set-up. As a matter of fact, the Superquadro engine is used as a bearing element connecting the compact front structure, consisting of a monocoque frame in die-cast aluminium fixed to the engine head. The single-sided swingarm, which is also connected to the engine, is 16 mm longer compared to that of the Panigale V2, contributing to ensure the stability of the whole bike.
To this platform are added the 43 mm Showa BPF front fork and the Sachs shock absorber, featuring dedicated calibration to make the bike more comfortable on the road as well as easily adjustable for a whole new dimension of fun on the racetrack.

The Streetfighter V2 is equipped with 5-spoke wheels and the new Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres: 120/70 ZR17 at the front and 180/60 ZR17 at the rear, which provide a rapid response to the rider’s needs together with an extra cornering feeling. Except for the adoption of brake pads characterised by a less aggressive bite, more suitable for road use, the whole braking system is faithfully taken from the Panigale V2 and features Brembo M4.32 monobloc radial calipers with 320 mm diameter discs.

The complete and modern electronic equipment that equips the Streetfighter V2 is inherited from the Panigale V2. The six-axis IMU inertial platform supervises all the electronic controls of the bike and measures its position in space in real time, sending the information to the control units that manage the controls. The electronic package includes: ABS Cornering (present on all bikes in the Ducati range and in this case in the EVO version), Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Quick Shift up / down (DQS) EVO 2, Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO.

The Streetfighter V2 features three Riding Modes (Sport, Road, Wet) with dedicated control settings. The electronic equipment can be enhanced by the accessories contained in the Ducati Performance catalogue, such as the Ducati Multimedia System which allows a smartphone to be connected or the Ducati Data Analyser (DDA + GPS) for the collection and subsequent analysis of riding data.

The bike is equipped with full-LED headlights with front DRL and a 4.3″colour TFT dashboard with an intuitive interface that recalls the family-feeling of the Streetfighter V4.

The Streetfighter V2 in the new Storm Green colour scheme with black rims and red tags joins the sporty version in Ducati Red.
